David Johnston-Keay Occupational Disease Solicitor

“Many thanks to Irwin Mitchell and particularly David Johnston-Keay for bringing my late husband’s claim to a successful conclusion. David has been very easy to approach throughout, answering all my questions and giving very good advice. I am extremely grateful and couldn’t have found a better firm to deal with professionally and personally.”

5* Trustpilot review

I’m a partner and lead the Asbestos and Occupational Disease team in Sheffield, supporting individuals and families whose lives have often been devastated by a workplace illness with an uncertain prognosis.

I’m accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as an Occupational Disease Specialist and Senior Litigator, with over 20 years’ experience representing clients affected by a wide range of industrial diseases, having qualified as a solicitor in April 2007. Over that time, I’ve developed specialist expertise in claims arising from the development of respiratory conditions, including silicosis, asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis.

    More about David

Because respiratory illness can affect people of all ages, I have acted for teenage clients, helping them to understand what their future might look like after illness, and those men and women who are in retirement, where their primary concern is often focused more on ensuring that their families are looked after in the years to come.

That means I’ve been involved in discussions about career options and training where work has been affected by illness, as well as financial and estate planning.

I’m often able to source support on these issues, either from experienced colleagues or expert witnesses appointed with permission from the court.
