Permanent Residence Solicitors
Permanent residence is a legal status under EU freedom of movement law. Brexit is changing how permanent residence in the UK works for EU and EEA citizens.
If you live in the UK and want to stay here permanently, our immigration solicitors can advise on your options.
We can also advise businesses on how to help their EU or EEA employees settle in the UK.

Choosing the right services for you
Currently, EU and EEA citizens automatically qualify for permanent residence if they’ve lived in the UK for five years continuously. This lets you:
- Live and work in the UK permanently
- Become eligible to naturalise as a British citizen
- Give your UK-born children the chance to acquire British citizenship, by birth or through registration
- Access welfare, education and the NHS.
However, permanent residence isn’t enough if you want to stay in the UK permanently after Brexit. Whether you already have permanent residence or not, you’ll need to apply for settled status through the EU Settlement Scheme before 30 June 2021. You may also have the option to apply for full British citizenship.
Everyone’s situation is different and we understand how difficult these decisions can be when your family and your career are involved. Our experienced solicitors will get to know you and your plans for the future before advising on the best option for you. We can guide you through any applications you need to make, explaining each step in plain English.
If you employ EU or EEA citizens, you may be worried about how these immigration issues could impact your business. We can advise on how to support your staff through their applications to minimise disruption and manage what can be stressful distractions.
