Emma McCann

I joined Irwin Mitchell in 1999 as a paralegal dealing specifically with writing wills. I qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and was made Associate the same year. I am now a Partner within the Tax Trusts and Estates Team.

I have day to day management and supervision of the Wills and Probate teams as well as taking care of my own clients. My areas of expertise include:

• Wills
• Administration of estates
• Tax planning
• Trust advice & deeds
• Deeds of Variation
• Powers of Attorney and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

I am also a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP).

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

Helping people at a difficult time in their lives when a relative or close friend has died.

What do you do away from the office?

I'm passionate about fitness - I'm a keen gym member and runner.

Publications

I have contributed to the Law Society's new Inheritance Tax Planning Handbook. The handbook is edited by Irwin Mitchell's John Bunker, with contributions from colleagues across our Tax, Trusts and Estates, Corporate, and Wealth Management teams.
