Irwin Mitchell Reaches Disability Confident Level 3 Leader Status

13.05.2025

Irwin Mitchell is proud to announce that we have achieved Disability Confident Level 3 Leader status, the highest level in the scheme.

Out of over 19,000 UK employers who have joined the scheme, only 3.5% have achieved Leader status, including fewer than 10 law firms.

Commitment to Responsibility and Inclusion

As a responsible business, Irwin Mitchell is committed to the Disability Confident scheme, a voluntary government initiative that encourages employers to recruit, develop, and retain disabled people. This achievement underscores our dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace.

Driving Disability Inclusion

This latest achievement follows Irwin Mitchell’s recent success at the Women and Diversity in Law Awards, where the firm won Disability Initiative of the Year. Additionally, Irwin Mitchell’s Recruitment and Onboarding team received the RIDI Award in December for its inclusive hiring practices. These accolades are a testament to the hard work of the firm’s IM Able network, Responsible Business, and Talent teams, and its commitment to driving change.

William Noel-Flint, Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Irwin Mitchell, commented: “Being recognised as a Disability Confident Leader is thanks to our efforts to make Irwin Mitchell a more inclusive business. We're proud to receive recognition for our activity so far, but there is always more to do to achieve our long-term goals. This is not the end of our journey, but another milestone towards becoming a truly accessible workplace.

“With further recommendations in our submission feedback, we remain focused on creating positive change. We aim to support disabled colleagues through our processes and values and meet our clients’ diverse needs.”

How Irwin Mitchell Achieved Disability Confident Level 3

  • IM Able Network: Our colleague group, IM Able, focuses on disabilities and long-term health conditions in the workplace. Co-chaired by Hannah Campbell and Anna Vroobel, it offers information and support to everyone in our business, helping current and future disabled colleagues. IM Able raises awareness, provides peer-to-peer support, and gives feedback on how we can be more disability inclusive.
  • Partnership with Evenbreak: Our collaboration with Evenbreak, a social enterprise that supports disabled people into employment, has led to an increase in the percentage of disabled candidates applying, interviewing, and being offered roles.
  • Expert Partnerships: We have partnered with Business Disability Forum and Inclusive Employers to help drive improvements, provide expert advice and collaborate on our key initiatives.
